Part of the reason that root canal therapy is less frightening and uncomfortable than many people believe is the fact that endodontists use modern techniques and technology to minimize the pain. To that end, the team Worcester Endodontics is proud to offer GentleWave®, a state-of-the-art system that both improves our ability to clean the tooth as thoroughly as possible and helps you stay relaxed throughout your visit. Get in touch with us today to learn more about how we’re using GentleWave in our Worcester, MA endodontic office to keep natural smiles safe.
The GentleWave procedure is an alternative to a traditional root canal. The normal method of cleaning teeth involves a series of files used to scrape away bacteria and infected tissue. GentleWave, on the other hand, uses a combination of fluids and sound waves to remove as much of the harmful material as possible. This is a much less invasive approach that allows for a thorough cleaning without the need to remove extensive amounts of enamel in the process.
The treatment begins like a traditional root canal with the tooth being opened so that we can access the pulp. Then we use a simple device that makes use of soundwaves and disinfecting fluids to clean the entire root canal system. The different wavelengths of sound move the fluids around so that they reach even microscopic areas where bacteria could be hidden. Afterwards, the tooth will be filled and restored with a crown, as it would be after a traditional treatment.
